One of the key experiences in believr will be values-based matching. We believe it’s an amazing opportunity to connect with other humans that are motivated by the same core qualities. So when it came to us as a company deciding what we would be known for, what values we would hold onto in order to guide our decisions, we didn’t take it lightly.

Every team member declared whatever value they wanted believr to be known for. We then consolidated the words, noticing themes between us, things we could all get on board with. Themes rose to the surface we all believed in.

Once we found the key values, Adam and Brandon stayed up late for multiple nights, wordsmithing every value, making sure that every definition was complete, embodying what we truly wanted.

Finally, after a few weeks, we had it.

Below, you’ll find our five core values. These are things we want to be known for. These are the pillars we want to make decisions based upon. We didn’t choose them lightly because we don’t just want these to be words on a page. We want these to be embodied in every interaction you have with us. You’ll notice that every value is a verb. We wanted them to be “doing” words, words of action because they will be driving our actions as a company. These are not just abstract ideas or words. They have movement and energy and life. They impact because we want to make an impact.

Without further adieu, here are the values believr will use to guide our development and actions as a company:

Believe: We believe in love; we are people of faith; and we trust that what we are doing has purpose — we believe that every person is worthy of love; we believe that God loves everyone regardless of how they identify; and we believe that what we are doing will create positive change within ourselves, the community, and in the world.

Connect: We are about cultivating connection — connection with a partner, connection with friends, with family. Regardless of what you’re looking for, we’ll guide you towards meaningful relationships.

Celebrate: We celebrate you without shame, understanding that each of us has something unique to contribute to this world, and that our differences are to be valued.

Be True: We will be true in what we communicate and how we represent ourselves while honoring the other. We aim to reveal both the beautiful and the ugly, the divine and the human, so that grace may abound.

Belong: We are fighting for something that has not existed up until this moment: a place where identities that have been at war with each other can find peace, a place we can finally call home. Though we stand on the shoulders of giants, those who have fought for the community, there is still work to be done.
